Wilma

Well the storm has passed.  Replaced now with heavier gusts of cold wind blowing down from our Northern neighbors. At 3 a.m. this morning the wind was howling, the rain was beating against the roof, the windows, the door...sleep was impossible. A few miles away they had issued a tornado warning which does nothing to assauge the worry.

Hubby did decide not to try to get to work during this storm...so I did get a few little browny points for that one!  Yes, try crossing the very tall Skyway Bridge during 60 mile an hour gusts....he would to, it's called living on the edge in Florida! Anyway I lucked out..they closed the bridge...beat him to the punch.

This is one storm that will not die.  I just watched the news and the weather man said that Wilma will be headed out to sea in the Atlantic...however...by Friday they expect it to be bearing down on England at 65 MPH.   So please all my English buddies be aware that some tropical heat is coming your way.

Leave it to my hubby...because the weather is dipping so low he now wants the heat on in the am and his long johns! Hell, we just had 89 degrees with 90 percent humidity who knows from winter clothes?  He just bought battery powered heat socks for hunting I think he better plug himself in. LOL

Everybody please stay safe....

Sandi, thanks for the warning - When and if it ends up over England I bet it won't be as bad as you have had it... I have been watching the news and thinking about you - glad you are safe and well..I don't think I would want to cross that bridge in fine weather -and certainly not with gusts of 60mph....Take care and keep us posted....Ally

I'm glad Wilma caused no damage to you in your area. Hope it blows itself out before reaching England. Battery powered heat socks??!!!!! Jeannette.

Thanks for the heads up Sandi.

We British often complain about the weather but watching what's been going on in the world lately has taught us all to be truly thankful for our gentle weather systems. 65mph doesn't sound too bad but it'll still probably make front page news and bring our railways to a standstill ("leaves on the line")!

So glad you escaped the full force of natures wrath. I bet you are all breathing a giant sigh of relief.

Sandi
I lived in the St. Pete area for almost twenty years and In Sarasota for three years.  I know how dangerous the Skyway Bridge can be in strong and gusty winds.  I'm glad you did not get the serious part of that storm and you are safe.  I hope Joe was able to find some batteries for his new socks last night, LOL!

Glad that you stayed safe and that hubby did not try to work.  As for his heated socks etc.  it is the other way around here, I am the one who is always cold.  Not looking forward to Wilma, thank you for the warning!

Glad you weathered the storm okay.  I'm also glad that things like bridges get closed during this kind of weather because it takes the decision out of people's hands... people who will take dangerous risks if given the opportunity.
No hurricanes here, and I don't miss them one bit!

Battery powered hunting socks ... could do with them. We are having a strangely warm and wet time of it ... maybe that tropical heat has already hit!
