Uh Oh

Now really.   Are there any diehard Smurf haters in J-land?  Being little and blue is not easy.  But I do believe that the Dutch have gone too far.

Blowing up Smurfdom to kingdom come is NOT a good thing.  Mushroom houses on fire, little smurfs lying dead, or running for their lives on fire?  Baby smurf..bawling it's eyes out for it's dead Momma.

Lord what were they thinking? I hope their kids don't see this on their TV's..I know a couple of adults this would traumatize.

My hubby has a "secret" collection of these little blue friends...from when he was much, much younger.  I haven't had the heart to show him this ad ...don't want him to lose the Smurf's as a "happy" place!

On a serious note, our State once again has to be on the outlook for this darn Hurricane. They came on a little while ago and announced that it had in just a few hours increased it's winds to 150 MPH.  Whew...so once it clears Cuba...it looks like anywhere from Tampa on down is a target.

They say the arrival would be sometime Saturday evening.  My problem is that I'm supposed to be doing a show with my sister during the day to help her sell her corsages and my "pet" rocks.  If it heads this way I can't see us doing the show...people would be evacuating.

Joe & I would have to leave our house, cause we are in a very low area.  We are lucky that my Mom & Dad's house is in an area that never gets evacuated..it's one of the highest spots in St. Petersburg.  So off to Mom & Dad's we would go...that's if Joe will leave the house, last time he wouldn't. Men can be soooo stubborn.

Anyway we shall see what happens....

You know when I was little I used to spend the weekend over at my aunts house every once and awhile.  One day I decided that I wanted to see the smurfs.  My aunt wouldn't let me, because she didn't allow her children to watch it.  I couldn't remember the last time I went over after that.

I say Smurf to my 16 y/o and he has no idea what I'm talking about. I never watched the show much because it was between my growing up years and the years I had children, but someone told me once and I don't remember all she said that them and the Care Bears were satanic. I wasn't much of a believer then so I wasn't sure what she meant; and I still don't know, but that thought has stayed with me. However, in the movie "Big Fat Liar" when the producer becomes a smurf, it always makes me laugh.

I hope Wilma goes out to sea and doesn't bother Florida.

Oh don't even get me started with that whole Smurf controversy. I didn't even like Brainy Smurf, but there's no way I'd want him to go like that. It's so wrong.

Hope the hurricane stays away or lessens up, or misses you completely. I think everyone's sick of them at this point. We've had enough!

i don't know if I will be able to sleep tonight thinking about Smurfdom.   It just makes me blue to think about it.
Stay safe.              Dawn

Make Joe evacuate by showing him the Smurf pic - tell him it was after Smurfdom was hit with a hurricane that it all happened...not funny - I know, but seriously - this hurricane Wilma scares me.

The Dutch are insane...

Be well,
Dawn

Not a smurf lover, but not a hater either.  That picture is just warped!

Get someplace safe and take care!  I'll be praying for you.

Hi Sandi,
Oh I love smurfs! What a horrendously awful ad! (But still very funny to my perverted sense of humor!)
I worry about you up there in St. Pete's. During Katrina, I saw a show on CNN that said if a major hurricane ever hit the Tampa Bay area, it would be as devasting as what happened to New Orleans as a result of the water table.
Sorry about your show, it will probably be cancelled as was our weekend neighborhood garage sale. For the past month I had been accumulating all the junk in closets and garages that really don't work in this small house anymore in the hopes of creating some storge space. I just lugged it all back to it's original places because if the windows blow out, I don't wish to have garage sale items floating through the house!
Stay safe my friend.

Seems like Papa Smurf tried preaching to the wrong people.  Is nothing sacred these days? We'll be seeing Massacre At The Magic Kingdom next.

Make sure you batten down the hatches and keep safe down there.

Thank you for your comment my friend.  Yes, please go ahead and use the Jamie poem on your journal. When my friend Tom posted it I had not seen it or heard of it but I knew right away I would have to do an entry, the word needs to be spread far and wide, the wider the better.  I feel so strongly about child abuse, it is personal to me. I had always hesitated about doing an entry about it but this poem made me go ahead and from comments I have received, I am glad that I did it.  Thank you for wanting to put it on your journal xxxxx

I LOVE the Smurfs... of of those fond memories of watching Sat morn cartoons with my children, all suggled under a blanket while the winter winds whip up a blizzard and the Smurfs blissfully babbling on. My son asks, "Dad, is it really, REALLY cold where the Smurfs live?" I'm perplexed, "I don't know. Why?" He gives me an exasperated look, "Because they are all blue and wear furry hats." Hmm could be, could be.

You be safe my friend and I'll be sending gusts of cold air to put out the fires fueling Wilma. thanks for the well wishes in my journal. Quite the honor I must say.

Michael

Ohh, I haven't thought of Smurfs for YEARS, but now, I'm suddenly comforted by my memories of childhood and my little blue friends. I had the stuffed smurfs and a whole collection of the plastic ones.
Stay safe and I hope your path stays clear of that Hurricane!!!!
