Garden Photos....

Mother Earth

Have to write this in green, everyone should be into green at least for this special week.  Or is it only a day that we award the earth each year? One day to cherish what Mother Nature has provided us with and only one day to return the favor and treat her gently?

I found myself with a sudden urge to plunge my hands into the rich, mulched soil that my husband has provided for our garden. You see I live in the land of Hajii...only sand and sand spurs grow unaided, everything else has to be cultivated at some point. I look at my neighbors backyard and all I see is white splotches of sand and some sparse sickly looking Bahamian grass - in sharp contrast to our little oasis which resembles a miniature rain forest.

I can remember growing some Wandering Jew in a basket up in New York, and having it cascade over the sides...I thought how wonderful that was. Yet, down here I have an outdoor carpet of it...it stops the grass from growing, loves mulch...thrives without much water....wonderful plant.  And I have so many people buy it from me on Ebay...so I think it's marvelous.

Today hubby cut some more of the Yucca's to start some new plants and he also cut some huge Corn Plants so we will have some more coming up.  Not to be outdone I repotted a whole bunch of my favorite plant the Aloe...I have always had Aloe growing it is such a useful plant. You can use it for burns, bug bites even sunburn...it really works well. The Indians knew it long ago.

Our weather here has been almost perfect, would that it would stay this way but I know that we have hot weather on the way.  Oh, well...at least our vegetables are doing good, we are going to have some harvest when the tomatoes start turning red....I'm counting the days on this one.

I have to pick up some herb plants as I had wanted to start a front yard herb garden.  I had grown basil and dill last year and it was very good.

I guess plunging your hands into Mother Earth and replanting growing things is a great way to celebrate Earth Day...the next best thing would be world peace....

He's Come A Long Way....

This picture speaks volumes.   How can you stand in front of our American Flag while listening to the Pledge of Allegiance and NOT place your hand over your heart?

Year ago I had heard a speech that Obama had given at some political function and I thought to myself...wow...this guy is good, loved what he had to say and thought he would be a mover and a shaker someday in the world of politics.

However, sometimes just sometimes, we put a person up on a pedestal only to discover that he has "feet of clay"....I think this is the case for Obama.

One chip after another is falling out of his outward persona wall...if you look closely you can see all the previous patches that were done to his character.  To get him "ready" for this run.  What kind of patches you might ask?

1) Run, duck and cover any close ties to Chicago's underground bad guys.

2) Deny, Deny, Deny any of the radical statements given by his clergy and church. He and Michele were NEVER there for any radical statements, never heard them would of been against them. Yeah, right take that to the bank.

3) Be pleasant and kind to the "little folk" but let it all hang loose making jokes  with the "big" guys at private banquets.  Oops, forgot to frisk a reporter for a recorder! So much for covering that up!

4) Insult and ridicule old West Legends just to make a point against guns...that falls under OMG he didn't just say that.

I'm glad he's down 20% in the polls in Pennsylvania...it shows that "the little person" is not just sitting there holding on to his bible & gun fearing the worst...the little guy will be your downfall Mr. Obama...

Just wish all this had come out in the beginning of the race...

Vote Hillary - at least all her dirty laundry has been publicly displayed for years now....

By the way does anyone know why Obama will not salute the flag? I find it so disrespectful.....

Behind Closed Doors

Wow, Marilyn, years after her death keeps on being news. Albeit, kind of off-color news but nevertheless NEWS.

I heard this story today and almost rolled on the floor laughing.  Why? Just the thought of Hoover watching this tape over and over as he tried to figure out "who" was the recipient of the lady's deep attention.

Good lord, and he was in charge of keeping this country on the right path? In reality, he was a double dealing, lying, pervert...probably made himself a copy to watch at home!

Growing up at a time when everyone admired and loved Marilyn - it's hard to see what really goes on behind closed doors.   She could not of been in use of her faculties to allow herself to be filmed like that, she had to know that it could be used against her. So what the devil possessed her to do it?

The act itself is not the culprit.  Many couples partake of such, but normally not for the camera.

She was so beautiful and exuded a very childlike persona at times...even the way she spoke it tugged at your heartstrings.  I want to remember her singing "Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend", crying her eyes out in "Misfits"...making us laugh till we almost cried in so many other films.   Even when she appeared in Madison Square Gardens, singing "Happy Birthday...Mr. President" to John Kennedy, wearing "that" dress...just beautiful.

Yes, even without the tell tale books and repeated tales down through the years I knew right at the start of it that Marilyn was involved with the President.

How did I know? My Mom had a best friend Maddy who was a night auditor for a motel which was located right by Idlewild Airport.  Several times, the motel was used by Kennedy to meet Marilyn in an "out of the way" place. Whole lot of crap went on around the airport in those days. Of course, Maddy shared her hot news with her little click of friends...I used to tag along sometimes when they met for lunch...so I got filled in on the "scoop" at the tender age of 16...lol.   I guess most people involved with this story are now passed and gone...

But that fifteen minute movie will last forever, it has probably been put on a DVD already! What do you think?

Time Moves Forward

Time seems to be flying by...days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months...still my thoughts are with them....

Forever Friends

My mind's eye plays a myriad of fleeting
images passing ever so quickly

Dark brown eyes laughing in the distance
echo's of love lingering ever so gently

A sense of humor that did not stop, loving
life at it's fullest
Full of jokes, stories and most of all faith.
My West Virginia friend, that I had never
met...yet close to her I felt
Till we finally meet ... a fond goodbye

Green eyes flashing protecting hearth and
home ever so greatly
She was my beautiful Irish Warrior Princess
So delightful to know, to read her story
Her love of family was wonderful to behold
She told her stories in the old world way of
"telling", an Irish way about her

Will never forget them until my time is done
Time passes on, babies are born and the
circle of life continues...it should be ever so

Death comes to all of us, that much is certain
Peel back the curtain, peer into it's face
fighting to stay ever so much

Missing the laughter, even the tears - nothing
seems right with the two of you gone...
wishing to turn back time ever so

2nd Part of Legends Never Die

Wow, for some reason you never expect your heroes to pass, you expect them to continue on as if they were infallible, never-ending.

There was a moment in my life where Charlton Heston and I almost crossed paths. The year was 1961 I was all of 17 years old and proud of the fact that I was when of the youngest hires by American Airlines at then Idlewild Airport.

I worked in a very secure area under the terminal and through phone links and shoot tubes from the upstairs ticket agents managed to put people on the plane in their correct seats.  There was a bit more to the job description because I also filled in on weekend days for the Manager's secretary as I was a good typist and knew steno well.

So at my desk I had a typewriter.

This one particular day in spring of 1961 Charlton was traveling on American Airlines and had a layover in New York.  He was not one to waste time when he could be doing something useful...such as catching up on personal correspondence.  He asked the Public Relations guy if he could find a typewriter to use.  Yep, you guessed it...mine.

Of all the damn times for me to be off from work!  Anyway, he came in, used my desk, sat on my chair...used my typewriter.  He was such a gentleman...he left a lovely note, thanking me for the use of my desk and typewriter.

At least I was "told" about the note.  Between the "Manager" or the PR person...that note disappeared. Nasty people anyway.

But I know that he wrote it and he wrote it to me.  If I had been there I would of fainted. Lol.

I know his soul is in a better place and that he was welcomed home at Heaven's Gate with wide open arms...rest well my hero....
