Stepping back in time to the year 1977...oh what a year it was, it surely was. My daughter Alisa was nine and my son Kenji was 11...both hooked on sci-fi...anxiously waiting to see "Star Wars". Luckily they had a Mom who, in her own right, was a confirmed "Trekkie" so it was with willing heart that she agreed to take them into the city to see StarWars.
Hubby, the kids and I loved the movie. My son at that time was starting to exhibit a great talent in drawing and painting.....I think he drew Darth Vader in so many situations that even his creator wouldn't of imagined him in. Of course, he had to collect all the figures...the cases...I still have some of them.
Then along came Ebay...and some of them are now sold but it was a long run for these toys....
I also still have Star Trek too....I'm mad that they are taking it off....with no replacement...stupid people.
Oh...extra credit...I think the Ewoks are definitely EVIL
they are little, they appear mysteriously, they gibber and they have odd ways of trading.

I am going to see the new Star Wars movies with my son today. Hope someday he and I will look back to this experience and has something to write about...
Wow, that's a pretty impressive collection you have pictured.

We still have most of the Star Wars toys that our children had, but alas they are well played with and loved.
Trekkies here too but with no cable we have had to beg and borrow to see the last two Star Trek series. Personally I think that's what helped kill the series, burried it on UPN and limited it. I know of several other Trekkies who would have followed more of the series but for lack of access.
Ah well give it a generation and it will be revised by our children, wantiong to pass along the memories and lore. We haven't seen the last of Star Wars either, don't care what Lucas is saying now. Like Arnold Said... "I'll be back" Lucas ain't done milking the cash cow.
Quite a collection of Star Wars toys there. We don't have any of the boys toys, not even the little matchbox cars. It seemed as they out grew them we gave them to someone else with kids. My middle son is still angry with me about that, but these assignments are really, really good at helping us recall those time and I'm thankful for that. Even if we don't take on the assignment reading others journals is always thought provoking. Thanks for sharing.

I saw your star wars collection and it brought back a bitter memory. It was 1979 and I was 18. I traded in my star wars figures to a guy who made fake ID's. He did a great job. That ID worked everywhere and it was my first night out with it that I met my first "one night stand". That one episode of lust resulted in a child that I never knew anything about. Turns out the kid was in his twenties and had hired a private detective to find me. There was a knocking on the door. He dropped the bomb on me and said his name was Lucas also reminding me what his mother's name was. I looked at him and said, "Luke. I am your father". I couldn't help but laugh and he shook his head, turned and walked away. A shameful thing for me to do. I should have just kept those star wars figures and that never would have happened.
By the way. Are those for sale?

I'm a trekkie from way back, but never went to the conventions - that would have been lots of fun. always envied spock's pointy ears.
i always thought the ewoks were cute... man, you have inspired me to look for movies...
So, did you dress up in Trekkie outfits? You know, for Halloween and stuff? I have to know. Mrs. L
What fun to see the memorabilia from the 70's. I went to see the first STAR WARS . . . Carrie Fisher as Princess Lea with cinnabons on her head and wasn't Joan Rivers a loud-mouthed little gold creature??? Long time ago!
Thanks for visiting my journal. I appreciated your comments about my DREAM ESSAY!
Have a wonderful Tuesday.
